Blood tests and other Investigations
For test results, ring 01274 612 279 between 11am and 3.30pm (on Thursdays 11am-1pm).
Please try not to ring before or after this time as the surgery will be very busy.
If you have been to see a doctor or nurse who then suggests you have a test of some sort, they should have asked you to book in with them again to get the results of those tests. If they haven’t, please book in. Most tests take around 2 weeks for the results to come through.
Most test results (bloods, x-rays and scans) take 2 weeks to come through. Please try not to ring before this time unless you have been told to do so.
Different tests do different things. There are an large number of blood tests which can help doctors work out what is going on with your body and how healthy it is.
X-rays are good at looking at bones, joints and for some soft tissues like the lungs. However, they aren’t good at other things like skin lumps, looking inside your belly or brain! And they’re is a small risk from radiation that people often forget about.
Then there are ultrasound scans, CT scans and MRI scans – all of which look ‘inside’ the body in different ways.
Always to let the doctor decide what test (if any) should be done – they know best.
Our practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
